Blue Devil Wrestling Dominates: Varsity & Junior High Bring Home Tournament Titles

It was a standout weekend for Reading wrestling, as both our Varsity and Junior High programs delivered dominant performances on the mat - each bringing home a team championship and showcasing the depth, talent, and work ethic of our athletes.

Varsity Wins Franklin Invite by 1.5 Points

The Varsity Blue Devils captured the team title at the Franklin Invitational, finishing 1st out of 11 teams in a tightly contested tournament. Reading edged out Troy by just 1.5 points to secure the championship, a testament to the fight and resilience shown throughout the day.

Our wrestlers put together an impressive slate of individual performances, highlighted by two champions:

1st Place: Landyn Doner (106) & Malachi Jackson (157)
2nd Place: Kaine Colvard (144), Jackson Hirt (190) & Simon Mercado (285)
3rd Place: Zach Rauen (120), Jafet Munoz (132), Vinny Ferdon (138), Elijah Peterson (165) & Eli Vance (175)
4th Place: Jackson Brubaker (215)
6th Place: Cole Bomske (126)

From early-round grit to clutch podium points, it was a full team effort that allowed the Blue Devils to climb to the top of the standings.

Junior High Cruises to Team Title at New Richmond

Not to be outdone, the Junior High Wrestling team turned in a dominant performance of their own, bringing home the championship at the New Richmond Invitational. The Blue Devils topped the field by an incredible 70-point margin over runner-up Batavia.

Junior High individual placers included:

1st Place: Lincolnn Cripe, Samuel Clay, Vinny Engel & Bentley Craig
2nd Place: Kipton Fletcher & Dylan Dryer
3rd Place: Raylan Moore, Eli Welling, Chase Berry & Richard Moraites

Congratulations to all of our wrestlers and coaches on an exceptional weekend. The hard work being put in on the mats - at both the junior high and high school levels - is paying off in a big way. The Blue Devils are rolling, and look to carry this momentum into their upcoming tournaments!
